Help for Creating Affordable Housing

Affordable housing is not just for big developers! Homeowners with extra space on their property have options and support to create accessory units or to subdivide and donate a parcel of land.

Citizen’s Guide - This is a brochure for citizens interested in how they can help create housing options including donating to existing housing organizations, creating an accessory apartment in their homes, and subdividing a piece of land for housing.

Credit Check Assistance - The purpose of this process is to assist homeowners who wish to rent an apartment in their home to get a credit and background check on potential tenants from an experienced, professional real estate management firm.

Salisbury Affordable Housing Fund (SAHF)- SAHF funds may be disbursed per Town Ordinance #112 to facilitate the creation of Affordable Housing units in Salisbury.  Any entity that intends to create affordable housing is eligible to apply for an interest- free loan.  Non-profit organizations with experience and a mission that includes the creation of affordable housing may request grant funds of up to $5,000. Funding provided for feasibility studies will be forgiven if the project proves infeasible.
