Housing Our Neighbors: Creating Affordable Housing
in Rural Connecticut

Falls Village Community Development Corp

The shortage of affordable housing costs the American economy about $2 trillion a year in lower wages and productivity.

Housing Our Neighbors is a documentary that shows how the lack of affordable housing in small towns in the Northwest corner of Connecticut impacts families just starting out, singles leaving home for the first time, and seniors living on fixed incomes. The lack of affordable housing impacts the economy too with school, hospital, and assisted living facility staff commuting an hour or more to get to work.

Housing Our Neighbors includes 24 interviews - everyone from State Representative Maria Horn to an opera singer to a Yale-educated senior puts a human face on what is often a contentious issue.

Directed by Yonah Sadeh, a resident of Falls Village, Housing Our Neighbors was produced with funding from the Falls Village Community Development Corp, the Foundation for Community Health, and the Center for Housing Opportunity.
